The work of SageCo continues to be inspired by the hundreds of mature age workers who have shared their stories and experiences with the team and continue to invigorate us with their passion and energy.

Through these first hand accounts we have heard tales of reinvention, achievements, disappointments and missed opportunities. The generous sharing of these stories continues to help us clearly see the stepping stones required to address the gap between optimum and actual experiences faced by Australia's mature aged workforce.

Here are a just a few of the stories that continue to shape our thinking.

Continue… to share your wisdom with future workforce generations

Bob retired from a leading multinational software company with 35 years of wisdom accumulated in a senior management role. Although the company documented procedures and strategies, no process existed for Bob to share his unique insights, lessons learned and discoveries that could benefit the company in the future.

Bob believes that a robust and repeatable process for retirees to share critical information about customers, projects, opportunities and threats would be an invaluable organisational legacy.

Connect… with post retirement opportunities

Graham worked as a Public Service Civil Engineer in housing and construction for nearly 30 years retiring early at 56. Despite pursuits such as tennis, golf and his three acre apple orchard, Graham felt he had more to offer in the world of engineering.

Graham connected with an ex-colleague who owned a niche engineering company. He secured flexible, part time consulting work and particularly enjoyed managing smaller engineering projects from concept to completion. Working with indigenous communities and learning new computer design skills were two of the opportunities that enriched Graham's post retirement working phase of some ten years. The next phase of retirement for Graham includes restoring old motor vehicles and caring for his toddler grand-daughter.
